What Should I Do?
It's been a couple months since I've bought makeup of any sort. (I swear.) I've been saving and I really want to get some things that'll be super good for Fall/Winter and maybe partially lead me into Spring.
Here's where my difficulty comes in. I already have a MAC Palette for my MAC eyeshadows. It's the magnetic pan and I have found I can melt down not only MAC eyeshadows, but also Lorac, Smashbox, and Urban Decay to place in there. It's almost halfway full. MAC eyeshadows run at $14.50, but I have Back-To-Mac things so I should get a few free eyeshadows.
But, Kat Von D had AMAZING eyeshadow palettes that are JUST as pigmented as MAC's. They cost $34, but there are 8 different colors. But these won't fit in my MAC palette, so traveling will be a bit of a hassel because now I'll have to carry another palette.
What should I do? I'll also post the things I want or am considering to get.

even if this chemistry's catastrophe

"Perseverance, n. A lowly virtue whereby mediocrity achieves an inglorious success."

I spent this past weekend at the Bucaoto's. They're wonderful family friends and they always make me feel amazing. Not to mention we have the CRAZIEST adventures. To name a few: We're always at risk for death, hardcore dancing & headbanging in the car while driving, striking incredibly OUT THERE poses to avoid running into aggressive shoppers at the mall, always wanting to buy some sort of candy, chocolate, or junk food.
However, in the midst of all this crazyness, we hit up Best Buy (two different ones, mind you) to purchase Breathe Carolina's new CD, Hello Fascination! I highly suggest it. Jen and I got so many looks pulling out of the mall dancing to this in the car.... and trying to figure out what I.D.G.A.F stands for....we definitely know now. Watch out though. There are two different album arts for this cd! Here's the one I prefer:
And now onto the pass on that was emailed to me multiple times...
Bolded are ones that I particularly relate to.
- -I wish Google Maps had an “Avoid Ghetto” routing option.
- -More often than not, when someone is telling me a story all I can think about is that I can’t wait for them to finish so that I can tell my own story that’s not only better, but also more directly involves me.
- -Nothing sucks more than that moment during an argument when you realize you’re wrong.
- -I don’t understand the purpose of the line, “I don’t need to drink to have fun.” Great, no one does. But why start a fire with flint and sticks when they’ve invented the lighter?
- -Have you ever been walking down the street and realized that you’re going in the complete opposite direction of where you are supposed to be going? But instead of just turning a 180 and walking back in the direction from which you came, you have to first do something like check your watch or phone or make a grand arm gesture and mutter to yourself to ensure that no one in the surrounding area thinks you’re crazy by randomly switching directions on the sidewalk.
- -That’s enough, Nickelback.
- -I totally take back all those times I didn’t want to nap when I was younger.
- -Is it just me, or are 80% of the people in the “people you may know” feature on Facebook people that I do know, but I deliberately choose not to be friends with?
- -Do you remember when you were a kid, playing Nintendo and it wouldn’t work? You take the cartridge out, blow in it and that would magically fix the problem. Every kid in America did that, but how did we all know how to fix the problem? There was no internet or message boards or FAQ’s. We just figured it out. Today’s kids are soft.
- -There is a great need for sarcasm font.
- -Sometimes, I’ll watch a movie that I watched when I was younger and suddenly realize I had no idea what the f was going on when I first saw it.
- -I think everyone has a movie that they love so much, it actually becomes stressful to watch it with other people. I’ll end up wasting 90 minutes shiftily glancing around to confirm that everyone’s laughing at the right parts, then making sure I laugh just a little bit harder (and a millisecond earlier) to prove that I’m still the only one who really, really gets it.
- -How the hell are you supposed to fold a fitted sheet?
- -I would rather try to carry 10 plastic grocery bags in each hand than take 2 trips to bring my groceries in.
- - I think part of a best friend’s job should be to immediately clear your computer history if you die.
- -The only time I look forward to a red light is when I’m trying to finish a text.
- - A recent study has shown that playing beer pong contributes to the spread of mono and the flu. Yeah, if you suck at it.
- - Was learning cursive really necessary?
- - Lol has gone from meaning, “laugh out loud” to “I have nothing else to say”.
- - I have a hard time deciphering the fine line between boredom and hunger.
- - Answering the same letter three times or more in a row on a Scantron test is absolutely petrifying.-
- - My brother’s Municipal League baseball team is named the Stepdads. Seeing as none of the guys on the team are actual stepdads, I inquired about the name. He explained, “Cuz we beat you, and you hate us.” Classy, bro.
- - Whenever someone says “I’m not book smart, but I’m street smart”, all I hear is “I’m not real smart, but I’m imaginary smart”.
- - How many times is it appropriate to say “What?” before you just nod and smile because you still didn’t hear what they said?
- - I love the sense of camaraderie when an entire line of cars teams up to prevent a dick from cutting in at the front. Stay strong, brothers!
- - Every time I have to spell a word over the phone using ‘as in’ examples, I will undoubtedly draw a blank and sound like a complete idiot. Today I had to spell my boss’s last name to an attorney and said “Yes that’s G as in…(10 second lapse)..ummm…Goonies”
- -What would happen if I hired two private investigators to follow each other?
- - While driving yesterday I saw a banana peel in the road and instinctively swerved to avoid it…thanks Mario Kart.
- - MapQuest really needs to start their directions on #5. Pretty sure I know how to get out of my neighborhood.
- - Obituaries would be a lot more interesting if they told you how the person died.
- - I find it hard to believe there are actually people who get in the shower first and THEN turn on the water.
- -Shirts get dirty. Underwear gets dirty. Pants? Pants never get dirty, and you can wear them forever.
- - I would like to officially coin the phrase ‘catching the swine flu’ to be used as a way to make fun of a friend for hooking up with an overweight woman. Example: “Dave caught the swine flu last night.”
- -I can’t remember the last time I wasn’t at least kind of tired.
- - Bad decisions make good stories (unfortunately.)
- -Whenever I’m Facebook stalking someone and I find out that their profile is public I feel like a kid on Christmas morning who just got the Red Ryder BB gun that I always wanted. 546 pictures? Don’t mind if I do!
- - Is it just me or do high school girls get sluttier & sluttier every year?
- -If Carmen San Diego and Waldo ever got together, their offspring would probably just be completely invisible.
- -Why is it that during an ice-breaker, when the whole room has to go around and say their name and where they are from, I get so incredibly nervous? Like I know my name, I know where I’m from, this shouldn’t be a problem….
- -You never know when it will strike, but there comes a moment at work when you’ve made up your mind that you just aren’t doing anything productive for the rest of the day.
- -Can we all just agree to ignore whatever comes after DVDs? I don’t want to have to restart my collection.
- -There’s no worse feeling than that millisecond you’re sure you are going to die after leaning your chair back a little too far.
- -I’m always slightly terrified when I exit out of Word and it asks me if I want to save any changes to my ten page research paper that I swear I did not make any changes to.
- - “Do not machine wash or tumble dry” means I will never wash this ever.
- -I hate being the one with the remote in a room full of people watching TV. There’s so much pressure. ‘I love this show, but will they judge me if I keep it on? I bet everyone is wishing we weren’t watching this. It’s only a matter of time before they all get up and leave the room. Will we still be friends after this?’
- -I hate when I just miss a call by the last ring (Hello? Hello? Dammit!), but when I immediately call back, it rings nine times and goes to voicemail. What’d you do after I didn’t answer? Drop the phone and run away?
- - I hate leaving my house confident and looking good and then not seeing anyone of importance the entire day. What a waste.
- -When I meet a new girl, I’m terrified of mentioning something she hasn’t already told me but that I have learned from some light internet stalking.
- -I like all of the music in my iTunes, except when it’s on shuffle, then I like about one in every fifteen songs in my iTunes.
- -Why is a school zone 20 mph? That seems like the optimal cruising speed for pedophiles…
- - As a driver I hate pedestrians, and as a pedestrian I hate drivers, but no matter what the mode of transportation, I always hate cyclists.
- -Sometimes I’ll look down at my watch 3 consecutive times and still not know what time it is.
- -It should probably be called Unplanned Parenthood.
- -I keep some people’s phone numbers in my phone just so I know not to answer when they call.
- -Even if I knew your social security number, I wouldn’t know what do to with it.
- -Even under ideal conditions people have trouble locating their car keys in a pocket, hitting the G-spot, and Pinning the Tail on the Donkey - but I’d bet my ass everyone can find and push the Snooze button from 3 feet away, in about 1.7 seconds, eyes closed, first time every time…
- -My 4-year old son asked me in the car the other day “Dad what would happen if you ran over a ninja?” How the hell do I respond to that?
- -It really pisses me off when I want to read a story on CNN.com and the link takes me to a video instead of text.
- -I wonder if cops ever get pissed off at the fact that everyone they drive behind obeys the speed limit.
- -I think the freezer deserves a light as well.
- -I disagree with Kay Jewelers. I would bet on any given Friday or Saturday night more kisses begin with Miller Lites than Kay.
- -The other night I ordered takeout, and when I looked in the bag, saw they had included four sets of plastic silverware. In other words, someone at the restaurant packed my order, took a second to think about it, and then estimated that there must be at least four people eating to require such a large amount of food. Too bad I was eating by myself. There’s nothing like being made to feel like a fat bastard before dinner.
That's all! :)

BEAUTY ADVICE | REVIEW
Okay, I know I said I wouldn't be able to give beauty advice, but I found this mascara and I have to review it! This is the most AMAZING mascara ever. Better than Diorshow, better than BadGal, better than it all! I love this mascara and it's only about $11. Say hello to Maybelline Pulse Perfection Mascara! It vibrates! You can literally feel it vibrating and wiggling your lashes. My lashes are longer, thicker, separated, not clumped together and look SPECTACULAR.
So yes, go purchase this now!

Last night, I spent time with my family for the first time in quite a while. We watched The Emperor's Club. I must say, this has got to be one of the greatest movies I've seen in a long time. The moral of the story was wonderful...we definitely need more movies like this one. Kevin Kline, Emilie Hirsch, and Patrick Dempsey are in it.

we were born to love and not hold back
I've become aware that I can no longer update with reviews and tips, since my life has become intensely chaotic and busy. Therefore, I am going to change this blog to a page full of things that inspire me daily. This can double as a type of therapy for me. Open Eyes will now be full of pictures and quotes. Simple, non-complex things have now become something I look forward to every single day.

it's a hard life, with love in the world.
"Since my skin is really, really dry, I rarely get acne, but when I do, it doesn't go away for an incredibly long time. It appears in a really light mark, not intensely dark, but still visible. What should I do to get rid of it? When I do get acne, what products should I use? Which ones work best? Thanks, Kimmie!
My Answer:
Since your skin is really dry, you should use a lot of cream cleansers and thick moisturizers. The creams will add moisture to your skin without making it too oily. Look for products that are specifically for dry skin, but still have acne fighting ingredients!
To cover up the marks/blemishes use tinted moisturizer or a concealer stick that blends in with your skin tone. You shouldn't have to use foundation if they're light.
Luscious Lashes!
With the return of fresh Gossip Girl episodes, comes Blair Waldorf, the Queen of wearing bows. Incorporate bows into your look for a classy, sophisticated look that's feminine and elegant. Do I even have to mention bows are 100% adorable? Bows can be worn in the form of headbands, tops, bracelets, necklaces, earrings, dresses, anything!
What I Wore:
My outfit on Thursday consisted of dark blue skinny jeans, a mustard yellow v-neck, and my Erin Fetherston cropped jacket with a large bow adorning the right side. I snagged this at Target a few years back when I was in Los Angeles during her Go International line and it's a big favorite of mine! Perfect for dressing up any casual outfit. I accessorized with gold and pearl earrings and my black patent leather Cole Haan pumps. I nixed any necklaces or bracelets so the attention could remain on the gorgeous bow.
Last weekend in Los Angeles, California, US Figure Skating Champion, Evan Lysacek brought the audience at the Staples Center to their feet in a brilliant program to "Rhapsody In Blue" and captured the World Championship Title. Evan is the first man in 13 years to capture the title! He won with a 5 point lead and his technically flawless program earned him a standing ovation in his hometown. In addition to edging out Canada's Patrick Chan and France's Brian Joubert, Evan also earned the US three spots at the Olympics in the Mens division! A big congratulations goes out to Evan!
Quotes have always been a big inspiration of mine and I have started a Tumblr account just for quotes! Be sure to stay posted and follow for inspirational quotes!

I'm headed off to rehearsals!
My birthday is in TWO DAYS!
I'm beyond excited!!! Wish list aside, I just want everyone to be content, happy, and satisfied with their lives and who they are. Oh, the economy getting better isn't a bad wish either :p
|EDIT!|
Although...after a little sifting, I have found some beautiful things that I'd like. My beautiful baby car will go bye-bye if I got these, but they are quite pretty to ogle at :]
YSL Y-Mail Keychain
YSL Y-Mail Silver Cuff
Roberto Coin Diamond Circle Ring
David Yurman Petite Albion Pearl Ring
ZASHA Pearl Ring
That's all for now! Have a wonderful weekend everyone! :]

Now you're free from my love, do what you want to do.
Christina G asks:
Do you have any tips/remedies for dry skin? Mine has been breaking out in dry spots and it's been awful. Nothing has worked so far. :/ Mucho amor! :)
My Answer: There are a few remedies you could use for dry skin!
Every night before med, massage almond or olive oil into your face. If your skin does not take well to oil, get a ripe banana and mash it. Put it on your face for about 5 minutes and then rinse off with lukewarm water. NOT warm water. Hot/warm water will dry your skin out even more. Finish with a moisturizer especially for dry skin like Eucerin Extra Protective Lotion.
The gorgeous weather in Texas has been put on hold recently. The clouds have taken over and rain is a constant presence this week. I had a bad spoon of luck on Tuesday getting my stuff to the car. It was quite unfortunate and I ended up drenched. It was something Angela and I were able to laugh about though! I wish my zebra umbrella would have gotten another chance to be used, but I left it at home. The end result: Angela and I were completely drenched. The rain is really relaxing though.
Something good did come out of getting drenched. I learned a new way to add texture and lift to hair while air-drying it and saving time. This is a good for when you get wet on your way to your car and are headed somewhere a little whiles away. Putting your hair up in a really messy bun at the top of your head will add lift. Try to twist your hair and tuck it under before putting the hair tie over it to give your hair different kinks for a nice texture! Upon letting your hair down, you can take a little bit of any hair serum to smooth away flyaways, but don't go overboard! Too much will make your hair appear oily or greasy. I just spun my hair up for Psychology class and let it sit like that until the end. Any ol hair serum will work, but I recommend Chi Silk Infusion!
BEAUTY! beauty. BEAUTY TIPS!
Urban Decay EyeShadow in Maui Wowie
A beautiful shade that works well on all complexions. It's gold with a bit of glitter, but it comes out a bit green too. It's a great shade for under the crease and the inner corners of your eyes. This gave my eyes a lot of "pop" but looked natural and not too "pageant-queen" like.
Since I borrowed Brooke's makeup today, I decided to interview her as well.
INTERVIEW!!!
Brooke: Makeup bag, hand sanitizer, Dolce & Gabbana Light Blue, Dove deodorant, and a hair tie. I just dump everything in, it’s pretty much a hobo bag from American Eagle and holds all of my stuff.
KK: Who is your current style icon?
Brooke: Hmm…Jasalene Gonzalez from ANTM because she’s freaking gorgeous and she looks amazing in anything that she wears. She rocks it on the runway and takes the fiercest pictures.
KK: What’s your favorite drink?
Brooke: A Carmel frap from Starbucks. I’m actually drinking it right now. You actually showed me that drink and I’ve started liking it ever since.
KK: How do you feel about the rain right now?
Brooke: I love it. The rain is awesome because it’s so calming and reminds me of Washington, which is where I’m from.
KK: What’s your worst physical appearance fear?
Brooke: Getting fat! Hahah. Looking fat and basically having lots of it.
KK: What’s your worst fear period?
Brooke: Basically something like looking out a window, seeing an eye, and then realize that someone’s trying to break in. That’d be pretty freaky.
KK: hahaha! that's funny! But it could be so scary! Who inspires you?
Brooke: Hmm. I don’t know, other than you, I don’t know what to say. There isn’t really anyone.
KK: That’s flattering! What do you think of the current trends?
Brooke: I think it’s really cool. I love it. The only thing is that some of the vibrant colors can make you look really juvenile or younger, you know?
KK: What’s playing on your MP3 Player right now?
Brooke: Muse, Escape The Fate, Three Days Grace…there’s more, but whatever. Hahah.
KK: Do you have an amazing closing statement for me?
Brooke: I have to think about this one…oh crap hahah. Fashion for me is basically my life. I think about it 24/7and I never get tired of it and I want my future to be in it because it’s all I dream about.
KK: Any advice for my readers?
Brooke: Horizontal stripes make you look WIDER! Don’t do it!
One artist I really enjoy listening to right now is Joseph Veazie. What beautiful acoustic songs he has. I came across him a long, long time ago on MySpace when I was profile hopping and little did I know I had found a new favorite! He is an amazing artist. If you live in the DFW area, you should come watch him perform at Ignition 09 at The Max in Dallas (well, it's actually Farmers Branch lol) on April 4. I'm pretty sure I'll be going. Joey's lyrics are wonderful and really easy to relate to. "Free" is my current favorite and provides the title for my blog entry. Other good songs are: "Someone To Love", "Shoreline", "Time Travel's Useless", and "Last Call." Be sure to check out his MySpace page!
http://www.myspace.com/JosephVeazie
He doesn't have a lot of songs up right now because he's in the process of re-recording and I think he got tired of hearing bad versions of his songs hahah. Don't forget to check out my Top 5 songs for this week!
Who Saw Gossip Girl on Monday?
I just loved it! Chuck and Blair just need to get it together, but we all know Nate and Blair are going to be a thing for a little while, unfortunately. One of my favorite parts of the episode was when Chuck pulled back from Blair and said, "No, I can't. This isn't the Blair I want." I felt like the real man in him emerged. Ahh I love Chuck!
Since the weather is getting cold again, I'm pulling my leather jacket back out. I'm going back to my 80s band t shirts and aviators. It's too cold outside for spring time dresses hahah. Or my amazing shorts. Taylor Momsen is my style icon of the week :]
