tonight's the night the world begins again

IT'S OFFICIALLY NEW YEARS! 2009 HAS ARRIVED.
Arrivederci to 2008, Bonjour to 2009. My fresh start begins today. I am really excited. Today, I will be spending time with family. It's so rare that all of us are together, what with our crazy schedule.

In 2009, don't forget to remember that our attitude is the most important thing we possess. It is more important than giftedness, talent, appearance, or skill. It will make or break a home, work environment, temple, church, or relationship. We can not change the past or the inevitable. The only thing we can do is play on the string we have and that is our attitude. Choose to be positive. Choose to rise above the worse. Choose to stand after you've been kicked down. Choose to be too tolerant to be angry and too wise for worry. Choose to be too humble for narcissism and too compassionate for masochists. I truly believe that life is 30% what happens to you and 70% how you react to it. Live wisely, live peacefully. Keep a radiant smile on your face no matter what terrible thing may happen.

To ring in the New Year I sang at a Charity Gala at Maxim. I wore a beautiful green La Femme one-shouldered gown with pleats. It feels very Greek Goddess, Helen of Troy. Every time I wear this gown I feel very clean and fresh, just like the Greeks. My favorite Mythology movie is Helen of Troy, featuring Sienna Guillory as Helen and Matthew Marsden as Paris. Speaking of Helen of Troy, I suggest you check out Alesana's "Third Temptation of Paris". It is such a beautiful song. Absolutely lilting voices and gorgeous piano. Not entirely something you'd expect out of ordinary Alesana. I fell in love the very first time I heard it. To accessorize my dress, I wore gold jewel tone earrings and my black Urban Outfitters tiger bracelet. My hair was very simple, to go with the Greek theme of my gown. I slightly braided the right side behind my bangs and set the rest of my hair into loose curls.

Sam and I were talking about pets yesterday and I decided I want a dog. I'll probably never ever get one... I'm hardly ever home nowadays and I'm so busy what with college, skating, work, and my title. But I looked around and the teacup yorkies are completely adorable! I wish I had time for a dog...

Angie and I ran around Dallas today. While shopping, I saw some of the cutest baby and toddler clothing. I couldn't help but smile. I really wonder what it would be like to be a Mother. I hope I have a girl and a boy. I already have names picked out hahah. Oh how much fun I would have with my kids. Showing them the world, teaching them, passing on my wisdom, and playing with them. Putting cute outfits on them would be a plus. I love how babies and toddlers look. Their innocent eyes. It's just precious.

Our trip was very productive. I got a BCBG blouse that ties around my neck in the back. It's beige and the material feels so cool and soft. The Neiman Marcus Christmas Store was -of course- having a 50% off sale so I purchased some ornaments for our tree next year. On our way to pick up some presents, we got a Milk Chocolate Carmel drink from Godiva. It was heaven. I haven't had one of those since...December 22 of last year. My family has been asking for some of the cookies/biscuits from Godiva so I bought a medium sized box.

Since my birthday is coming up in a few months, I'm in the market for a car. Been doing some research and looking around, keeping my eye out when I'm out and about. My original choice was the Honda Civic, but since they are completely redoing the car I don't think it would be wise to pay for a brand new car when they will be releasing a brand new design in the same year. In addition, I heard Honda service has gotten stingy. They won't even give you a free car wash when you go in for service. The cars I've had my eyes on are: the Volkswagen Jetta and the Nissan Sentra.

Vi wants me to do a makeup tutorial. I think I'll do one with my everyday look sometime this weekend if I have time. So look forward to that!
