Now you're free from my love, do what you want to do.

Spring break was amazing! Got so much stuff done and got a chance to relax and have a good time with friends and family. Full blast on the skating training and adding running to my daily routine. I ran for 20 minutes on the treadmill with an incline. It was definitely invigorating. Getting my cardio up is a must and being active is always a good beauty secret. Flowers are my favorite part about spring and Easter Lilies are one of my favorite flowers. So clean, pure, and fresh.

Q&A!!!

Christina G asks:

Do you have any tips/remedies for dry skin? Mine has been breaking out in dry spots and it's been awful. Nothing has worked so far. :/ Mucho amor! :)

My Answer: There are a few remedies you could use for dry skin!
Every night before med, massage almond or olive oil into your face. If your skin does not take well to oil, get a ripe banana and mash it. Put it on your face for about 5 minutes and then rinse off with lukewarm water. NOT warm water. Hot/warm water will dry your skin out even more. Finish with a moisturizer especially for dry skin like Eucerin Extra Protective Lotion.

The gorgeous weather in Texas has been put on hold recently. The clouds have taken over and rain is a constant presence this week. I had a bad spoon of luck on Tuesday getting my stuff to the car. It was quite unfortunate and I ended up drenched. It was something Angela and I were able to laugh about though! I wish my zebra umbrella would have gotten another chance to be used, but I left it at home. The end result: Angela and I were completely drenched. The rain is really relaxing though.

HAIR TIPS!!!

Something good did come out of getting drenched. I learned a new way to add texture and lift to hair while air-drying it and saving time. This is a good for when you get wet on your way to your car and are headed somewhere a little whiles away. Putting your hair up in a really messy bun at the top of your head will add lift. Try to twist your hair and tuck it under before putting the hair tie over it to give your hair different kinks for a nice texture! Upon letting your hair down, you can take a little bit of any hair serum to smooth away flyaways, but don't go overboard! Too much will make your hair appear oily or greasy. I just spun my hair up for Psychology class and let it sit like that until the end. Any ol hair serum will work, but I recommend Chi Silk Infusion!

BEAUTY! beauty. BEAUTY TIPS!

Since I left my makeup bag at home today unfortunately, I had to borrow Brooke's makeup upon finding out I had to go somewhere important later. I found something I really loved! The protegee is learning well!

Urban Decay EyeShadow in Maui Wowie
A beautiful shade that works well on all complexions. It's gold with a bit of glitter, but it comes out a bit green too. It's a great shade for under the crease and the inner corners of your eyes. This gave my eyes a lot of "pop" but looked natural and not too "pageant-queen" like.

Since I borrowed Brooke's makeup today, I decided to interview her as well.

INTERVIEW!!!
KK: What’s in your purse?
Brooke: Makeup bag, hand sanitizer, Dolce & Gabbana Light Blue, Dove deodorant, and a hair tie. I just dump everything in, it’s pretty much a hobo bag from American Eagle and holds all of my stuff.

KK: Who is your current style icon?
Brooke: Hmm…Jasalene Gonzalez from ANTM because she’s freaking gorgeous and she looks amazing in anything that she wears. She rocks it on the runway and takes the fiercest pictures.

KK: What’s your favorite drink?
Brooke: A Carmel frap from Starbucks. I’m actually drinking it right now. You actually showed me that drink and I’ve started liking it ever since.

KK: How do you feel about the rain right now?
Brooke: I love it. The rain is awesome because it’s so calming and reminds me of Washington, which is where I’m from.

KK: What’s your worst physical appearance fear?
Brooke: Getting fat! Hahah. Looking fat and basically having lots of it.

KK: What’s your worst fear period?
Brooke: Basically something like looking out a window, seeing an eye, and then realize that someone’s trying to break in. That’d be pretty freaky.

KK: hahaha! that's funny! But it could be so scary! Who inspires you?
Brooke: Hmm. I don’t know, other than you, I don’t know what to say. There isn’t really anyone.

KK: That’s flattering! What do you think of the current trends?
Brooke: I think it’s really cool. I love it. The only thing is that some of the vibrant colors can make you look really juvenile or younger, you know?

KK: What’s playing on your MP3 Player right now?
Brooke: Muse, Escape The Fate, Three Days Grace…there’s more, but whatever. Hahah.

KK: Do you have an amazing closing statement for me?
Brooke: I have to think about this one…oh crap hahah. Fashion for me is basically my life. I think about it 24/7and I never get tired of it and I want my future to be in it because it’s all I dream about.

KK: Any advice for my readers?
Brooke: Horizontal stripes make you look WIDER! Don’t do it!

MUSIC SUGGESTIONS!!!

One artist I really enjoy listening to right now is Joseph Veazie. What beautiful acoustic songs he has. I came across him a long, long time ago on MySpace when I was profile hopping and little did I know I had found a new favorite! He is an amazing artist. If you live in the DFW area, you should come watch him perform at Ignition 09 at The Max in Dallas (well, it's actually Farmers Branch lol) on April 4. I'm pretty sure I'll be going. Joey's lyrics are wonderful and really easy to relate to. "Free" is my current favorite and provides the title for my blog entry. Other good songs are: "Someone To Love", "Shoreline", "Time Travel's Useless", and "Last Call." Be sure to check out his MySpace page!
http://www.myspace.com/JosephVeazie
He doesn't have a lot of songs up right now because he's in the process of re-recording and I think he got tired of hearing bad versions of his songs hahah. Don't forget to check out my Top 5 songs for this week!

Who Saw Gossip Girl on Monday?

I just loved it! Chuck and Blair just need to get it together, but we all know Nate and Blair are going to be a thing for a little while, unfortunately. One of my favorite parts of the episode was when Chuck pulled back from Blair and said, "No, I can't. This isn't the Blair I want." I felt like the real man in him emerged. Ahh I love Chuck!

Since the weather is getting cold again, I'm pulling my leather jacket back out. I'm going back to my 80s band t shirts and aviators. It's too cold outside for spring time dresses hahah. Or my amazing shorts. Taylor Momsen is my style icon of the week :]

What goes around, goes around, goes around, comes all the way back around.

Right now I am in LOVE with the basic V-Neck t shirts from F21. Viky and I have been stocking up on our own and finding out that we're purchasing the same colors. It's much cheaper than American Apparel, since Viky and I love a bargain! We also got these cute little dangling bracelets that were $2.80 and we wear them all the time. It's really lightweight and goes with every outfit so I don't have to worry about taking it off or anything! I love F21. There's so much great stuff and it's all at pretty affordable rates.

What I love doing is just wearing a simple V neck with faded blue skinny jeans, with Vans. Sometimes I'll add a cute necklace and just let my hair do it's natural thing. This look is great for going anywhere. It can easily be dressed up with heels if you're going somewhere more formal, or stick with Vans or Converse for an on the go laid back look. Another shoe alternative would be decorated sandles with cute jewels.

BEAUTY! beauty. BEAUTY REVIEW!

As mentioned in previous blog entries, Angela has purchased the entire Wild Rose line from Korres. She has lovingly written us a review. She's a model for DMT and Major Leagues and as we all know, skincare and makeup is extremely important to those faces!

Angela writes:

"Korres is a lightweight, flawless -if used correctly- make up line that brightens up your complexion. The entire wild rose line is really great. The moisturizer makes your skin super soft and does not make your face oily at all to the touch. The foundation is lightweight and applies smoothly. If you want complete full coverage definitely use the concealer too. It not only makes your eyes brighter, but it covers the dark circles around your eyes! The powder on the other hand is a little tricky to use since the powder dust can get everywhere, but other than that, the powder just gives your face a finished touch. The whole line makes it almost impossible to realize you’re wearing makeup. It does not rub off on your clothes or others haphazard places."

Q&A!
I love getting questions! Answering them is a challenge, but always a blast.

Olivia asks:
"How do I make the things I don't like to do much more enjoyable and how do I pass the time I spend on them more quickly?"

My Answer: Try to be positive! Think of what you'll gain out of it. For example: doing your dreaded homework. If you do it, you'll know the material more and do better on the test! There is a positive in EVERY situation. And it could always be worse. A good way to pass the time is to try to actually enjoy what you're doing, as odd as that sounds. Also, completely devote yourself to the task at hand. Chances are, if you focus more, you'll get it finished quicker.

YAYY FOR REST AND BEAUTIFUL WEATHER!

I'm loving Spring Break! I really wish my best friend, Eleanor was able to be here with me, but I know she's busy with school and work, so she has to stay in Tacoma. I hope everyone is enjoying their Spring Break! I know a lot of people in my area kicked it off by going to the South by Southwest Show!

I got my new skates! I love them so much! The artwork that Paul did is absolutely astounding. The Tiger looks fierce and the Owl is one hundred percent adorable!!! Aren't they a great match? The tiger is on my right foot for powerful landings and the owl is on my left for intelligent take offs :]

Over the weekend, my sister and I went shopping together in addition to running some errands. We stopped by Nordstroms to return a pair of Cole Haans she purchased forever ago and left with a pair of shoes each! She got new Munro's and I got a pair of beautiful Stuart Weitzman's. We're both pretty ecstatic!

Last week it was really rainy, cold, and ugly for a bit. I really wanted to wear my Zebra tights, so I went ahead and threw this together. The boots probably don't go with it really well, but I don't care. They kept me warm and dry from the cold rain.

Good thing the weather is amazing now! Tomorrow, Anh Tam and I are going to have dinner with Nini (from NiniStyle) and her boyfriend, Anh Loc. I'm also going to get my hair cut and visit Natalie and Meredith at Northpark. Hopefully, I'll be able to walk. I did an awful lot of jogging in my workout yesterday!

How is your spring break going? Are you loaded with homework like I am?

Wednesday, March 11, 2009

I tend to disappear here and there, so concentrate and you'll feel me everywhere.

SPRING BREAK IS COMING UP!

I can't wait for Spring Break. A lot of colleges are already on their spring break. I start mine next week. I'm so excited. What are you doing for spring break? Traveling anywhere? I want to hear about it!

It's been a long week and it's only Wednesday! I have midterms this week and I have been studying late into the night! Last Saturday, I had a shoot with Dorian and it went great! I got to shoot with another model, Victoria who is absolutely beautiful. She was Viet too, so it was Viet Pride. Or Dorian called it, "Viet Nymphs." Lots of hard work and energy were put in and the photos are coming out very nicely! We were in water most of the time and climbing rocks to get to good spots. I was so afraid I would get sick since it was windy and I was soaking wet, but I didn't, so I'm very thankful! I'll upload the photos at the end of this blog.

Angela was in need of makeup for a shoot last weekend as well, so we made a trip to Sephora to scope out beauty products. A brand, the both of us are in love with right now is, Korres.

It is wonderful! The products are very natural and even though they are lightweight, the coverage is fantastic. Angela went home with the foundation and powder in M5 and went back for the moisturizer. I already have the Lip Butter...still using it and dedicated! If you are in need of foundation or powder, I highly recommend this brand. It's also not as expensive as the other lines that Sephora carries. The powder is sheer and oil free and contains Vitamins C & E. The compact is also to die for. I'm in love with the little "flip" effect it does hahah.

I made chocolate covered strawberries this weekend. It was so much fun. Natalie came over on Monday to hang out and we ended up devouring all of them in five minutes. I hadn't seen Natalie in months so it was definitely nice to catch up.

BEAUTY! beauty. BEAUTY REVIEW!

As mentioned before, I got the Smashbox eyeshadow/lid primer sample as part of my online Sephora purchase and I've been trying it out. This primer is very...thick. It goes on almost like a foundation or concealer. My eyeshadows seem to be as vibrant and long-lasting as when I use the Too Faced Shadow Insurance so I don't necessarily have anything bad to say about this product. The color of the primer is a very nude/beigey shade and when you apply it, it comes out in that shade. It does blend in with my skin tone, so I don't have any issues. I don't know how much it'll retail for when it hits stores, but if you don't like Primer Potion or Eye Shadow insurance, give this a try!

BEAUTY! beauty. BEAUTY TIPS!

My friend, Alyssa, over at Aly. Talk! talks about a good skin care regiment and she mentioned deconstructing your skin regimen area and keeping things clean.
I can not stress how important this is!
I don't carry a whole lot of makeup with me, but what I do carry, I make sure to sanitize weekly. Yes, I know it sounds OCD, but in a way it's not. Think about it: When you go to public places, you put your makeup on bathroom counters, maybe the changing bin, and it could fall on the floor...etc. Imagine all the germs and bacteria floating around!!! At the end of the week, I always dump out my makeup bag and take alcohol and paper towels and wipe down EVERYTHING. This means the outside of the container, the inside, the mirror, around the shadow rims, everything.
Also, please, please, please, do not just DUMP your brushes into your makeup bag for this same reason! Find and purchase retractable brushes that can stay clean when in your makeup bag. Also, since they retract, you save room in your makeup bag! If you can't, take a paper towel or tissue and wrap your brushes so the bacteria off your makeup containers don't get onto your brushes and then applied onto your face. BareMinerals, Sephora, and Stila makes fantastic retractable brushes and are worth the money!

Top 5 Songs For 3/8/2009 - 3/14/2009

1. "When I Grow Up" Cover by Mayday Parade
2. "Toxic" Cover by A Static Lullaby
3. "Bulls On Parade" by Rage Against The Machine
4. "I'll Meet You There" by Owl City
5. "That's Not My Name" by The Ting Tings

I highly recommend the newly released, "Punk Goes Pop 2" CD, available at stores everywhere...I believe hahah. itunes should have it! It's so awesome. All of the covers are great. Another cover I really enjoy listening to is, "What Goes Around...Comes Around" by Alesana. So much better than the original version by Justin Timberlake.

deliver me, loving and caring. deliver me, giving and sharing.

It's been a long while since I've last updated! I've been incredibly busy since my return from Denver, Colorado. My trip went really well! I love Denver. The different atmosphere was great and so was the cool air. A fresh patch of snow fell the night before I arrived. One of my favorite things to do is write in snow or sand. :]

BEAUTY REVIEW!
I also finally got my hands on MAC's Hello Kitty cosmetics.
I LOVE THEM. Below is my review:
  • I got the Beauty Blush in Fun & Games (on the left in the picture below) and I have to admit, at first I didn't think that it would work that well on me, but I was wrong. This blush is AMAZING. The color is absolutely beautiful and so easy to blend. I just use an angled blush brush from sephora and pack it on. It looks wonderful. Sheer and natural, but with enough pop.
  • Next, I got two Lip Glasses: Fast Friends and Sweet Strawberry (far left & far right). Fast Friend is a GREAT color for every day believe it or not. It goes on with just the right amount of punky purple, and sheer enough to be used over any lipstick. Sweet Strawberry is more pigmented and is a semi dark, strawberry/cranberry color that looks great for a more glamorous look. However, it can still be worn with just jeans and a white t shirt and look natural.
  • I got the Pink Fish Lip Conditioner as well. It is all the rave! I actually use a retractable lip brush to apply it because I'm very anal about putting my finger in the actual pot and spreading bacteria. The color is very pink/barbie like, but I love it. The conditioner is very moisturizing and works very well. I actually find myself putting this on under all of my lip glosses as a type of base and color prep.
  • I also got one of the Lipsticks in Cute-Ster (middle shade). I'm not so much in love with this. It was originally a gift for my Mom since she prefers bright pink/coral colors. This is a very bright pink. It resembles something Barbie would wear I think. However, if paired with a more neutral lip gloss over it, Cute-Ster can look quite natural.
  • Finally, I got the Tahitian Sand Beauty Powder as a gift. Hello Kitty's face is imprinted in this! So cute! I love using this under my eyes and dusting it over my nose and forehead. Beauty powder is just to conceal all of your flaws and make your face look more beautiful. Just swipe it wherever you want. This also works well on your eyes as a shadow too. I use it as a highlight and in the corners of my eyes. The MAC 217 brush works great for this!
  • And!!! While I was in Denver, I tried to purchase the brush set, but they were sold out. They only had the empty brush holder. However, the MAC artist there was nice enough to give me the brush holder free of charge! She made my day! Here is a picture of everything I got, minus the lipstick, which my Mom has in her makeup bag.

I finished reading Diary before my trip just like I had anticipated. This story was great. It follows an artist, named Misty Wilmot and it is one of the few books where Chuck Palahniuk writes in a female voice. It takes place in a quaint tourist hotspot named Waytansea Island, where she lives after marrying, Peter, her love from art school. It is easily seen as one of Palahniuk's novel because the weird events happen right off the bat. There is no time to sugarcoat things. It goes from one intrigue to the next rapidly, which always leaves you wanting more. The end of the novel took me a bit by surprise, yet it was somewhat predictable. All in all, Diary is another great Palahniuk read.

I'm currently working on Haunted and I'm more than halfway through. Everyone who read this book told me it made them want to throw up, but so far, my stomach has yet to churn in any odd way out of its normal routine. I guess I can take gross and vulgarness better than I thought? I'm not too sure yet. I'll make sure to have a review upon finishing. I'm almost through with all of Palahniuk's books. Started reading a long time ago, then forgot to buy the new books, I'm now a devoted fan.

Sarah Brightman has always been one of my favorite musical artists of all time. Her voice is astounding. I can't find enough positive adjectives to use to describe her. Lately, I find myself relapsing into the addiction of her songs. I own the DIVA Collection DVD and I spent my Friday night watching it from head to toe. She isn't just an opera/soprano singer. She is so much more. She branches out and crosses so many lines. I recently saw her on her latest tour, The Symphony World Tour back in November and she was absolutely captivating. The show was beyond remarkable. The stage, the effects, and costumes, the dancers, and of course the music was absolutely spectacular. I highly suggest going to one of her shows. You won't regret it. My top favorite Sarah Brightman songs are:
  1. "Anytime, Anywhere" off the album, Eden.
  2. "Deliver Me" (the title of this entry are lyrics from this song) off the album, Eden.
  3. "Let It Rain" off the album, Symphony.
  4. "Here With Me" (A Dido cover, actually) off the album, La Luna.
  5. "Only An Ocean Away" off the album, Eden.
  6. "Time To Say Goodbye" off the Sarah Brightman classics album.

BIG BEAUTY NEWS!
Smashbox is coming out with a lid primer! I can't wait to try this out. I had to purchase a few things online from Sephora, so I was able to get it. I'll do a review once I've had a couple days to try it out. Right now, the only way to purchase it is with a code from being a beauty insider and buying $25 worth of items on Sephora.com. The primer is free though, so it's a good bargain. Here's the picture straight out of my email LOL.

I have a very exciting and busy week coming up! Possibly a photoshoot this weekend... I'm not too sure yet. I feel like I'm headed in a great direction and I feel much stronger and more independent! I can't wait for the year to move on. Speaking of the year, my birthday is in four weeks :]

I noticed my music as of late has been really odd and all over the place. Here's what I'm listening to in the car, at the ice rink, and when I'm working out.
