tonight's the night the world begins again

IT'S OFFICIALLY NEW YEARS! 2009 HAS ARRIVED.
Arrivederci to 2008, Bonjour to 2009. My fresh start begins today. I am really excited. Today, I will be spending time with family. It's so rare that all of us are together, what with our crazy schedule.

In 2009, don't forget to remember that our attitude is the most important thing we possess. It is more important than giftedness, talent, appearance, or skill. It will make or break a home, work environment, temple, church, or relationship. We can not change the past or the inevitable. The only thing we can do is play on the string we have and that is our attitude. Choose to be positive. Choose to rise above the worse. Choose to stand after you've been kicked down. Choose to be too tolerant to be angry and too wise for worry. Choose to be too humble for narcissism and too compassionate for masochists. I truly believe that life is 30% what happens to you and 70% how you react to it. Live wisely, live peacefully. Keep a radiant smile on your face no matter what terrible thing may happen.

To ring in the New Year I sang at a Charity Gala at Maxim. I wore a beautiful green La Femme one-shouldered gown with pleats. It feels very Greek Goddess, Helen of Troy. Every time I wear this gown I feel very clean and fresh, just like the Greeks. My favorite Mythology movie is Helen of Troy, featuring Sienna Guillory as Helen and Matthew Marsden as Paris. Speaking of Helen of Troy, I suggest you check out Alesana's "Third Temptation of Paris". It is such a beautiful song. Absolutely lilting voices and gorgeous piano. Not entirely something you'd expect out of ordinary Alesana. I fell in love the very first time I heard it. To accessorize my dress, I wore gold jewel tone earrings and my black Urban Outfitters tiger bracelet. My hair was very simple, to go with the Greek theme of my gown. I slightly braided the right side behind my bangs and set the rest of my hair into loose curls.

Sam and I were talking about pets yesterday and I decided I want a dog. I'll probably never ever get one... I'm hardly ever home nowadays and I'm so busy what with college, skating, work, and my title. But I looked around and the teacup yorkies are completely adorable! I wish I had time for a dog...

Angie and I ran around Dallas today. While shopping, I saw some of the cutest baby and toddler clothing. I couldn't help but smile. I really wonder what it would be like to be a Mother. I hope I have a girl and a boy. I already have names picked out hahah. Oh how much fun I would have with my kids. Showing them the world, teaching them, passing on my wisdom, and playing with them. Putting cute outfits on them would be a plus. I love how babies and toddlers look. Their innocent eyes. It's just precious.

Our trip was very productive. I got a BCBG blouse that ties around my neck in the back. It's beige and the material feels so cool and soft. The Neiman Marcus Christmas Store was -of course- having a 50% off sale so I purchased some ornaments for our tree next year. On our way to pick up some presents, we got a Milk Chocolate Carmel drink from Godiva. It was heaven. I haven't had one of those since...December 22 of last year. My family has been asking for some of the cookies/biscuits from Godiva so I bought a medium sized box.

Since my birthday is coming up in a few months, I'm in the market for a car. Been doing some research and looking around, keeping my eye out when I'm out and about. My original choice was the Honda Civic, but since they are completely redoing the car I don't think it would be wise to pay for a brand new car when they will be releasing a brand new design in the same year. In addition, I heard Honda service has gotten stingy. They won't even give you a free car wash when you go in for service. The cars I've had my eyes on are: the Volkswagen Jetta and the Nissan Sentra.

Vi wants me to do a makeup tutorial. I think I'll do one with my everyday look sometime this weekend if I have time. So look forward to that!

so keep your love lock down

Today was utterly beautiful. I really hope the weather stays just like this for a week or so. It was marvelous to step outside today. Event-wise, today was pretty uneventful, but mentally and emotionally it was significant. 2009 is arriving soon, so I am taking new steps to change my life.

My recent music obsessions are KanYe West and Joseph Veazie (you can look him up on MySpace). KanYe has so many songs off his new album that perfectly describe how I feel, I adore it. Joseph's voice and lyrics make me smile, period.

Right now I'm trying to handle eighty bajillion things at once. Organizing the Saturday Ocean Fashion Show for the upcoming Tet/New Year Festival is definitely taking up a lot of my time. Cutting music, recruiting people, dressing people, etc. Even though it's a tad stressful, all of it will be worth it. I'm ecstatic.

I came up with some new outfits during break. I did a lot of layering. I've exhausted the majority of my sweaters. Sweatshirts are my new favorite at the ice rink. There isn't a hood to slow me down and they're super comfy and warm. Perfect for the ice cold rink.

My sister and I were trying to figure out casual wear outfits and I came up with this: Burgandy t shirt tucked into charcoal gray tailored shorts with floral embossed tights. I topped it off with a sleeveless v-neck button down cardigan full of sequins. Accessorized with a patterned skinny scarf and my favorite Via Spiga peep toe heels.

Chocolate is my guilty pleasure right now. I've had so many different kinds, but I must confess, Lady Godiva is my favorite of the moment. Lindt falls close behind though. Earlier today I came across this wondrous picture of Lindt chocolate as a gorgeous dress. It was my favorite flavor too In addition, I've also noticed (as crazy as this will sound) pricier chocolate doesn't make me break out. It makes my skin better actually. How peculiar.

I made a new friend who I adore. His name is Sam. He's super sweet and loves Guns N' Roses just like I do. We were up quite late last night chatting away. It was fantastic. He's also a photographer and wants to photograph me soon. I need to put together or find some outfits and he's coming up with ideas so, stick with me and you'll see the end results.

This is Sam. Isn't he adorable?

everybody wants someone to love.

So Vi persuaded me to start a blog. I guess I should have a place to organize my haphazard ventings, thoughts, opinions, ideas, and squabbles. It's Winter Break in Texas right now and it's around 41 degrees at night and morning with a high of 50 in the late afternoon. I've had a pretty decent break so far. Lots of friends and family and food! I went over to Angie's with Thien and JC and we all baked approximately 125+ cupcakes. It was great fun!

For Christmas I got, a new acoustic guitar, Olympus FE-370 digital camera, $100 Victoria's Secret, VS undergarments, UGG Boots, novels, a Mitchell Davis t-shirt, Vance made me a Build-A-Bear, picture frames, ornaments, and tons of other stuff.

It's getting cooler in Texas so I'm finally getting the chance to wear my winter fashions. I'm loving sweater dresses with patterned tights, chunky patent leather heels, and I'm addicted to scarves! I've scaled down my makeup routine to just mascara, blush, and brown eyeliner. I'm loving the natural look, even though I love to glam it up sometimes. Simple is best. True beauty always shines better than glamour.

I finally posted Chapter 9 - Introductions of my story, The Key. You should check it out and leave me a review! http://www.fictionpress.com/s/2466938/9/The_Key

Vi has some questions she wants me to answer so here we go!

If my skin is already oily, can i use moisturizer ?
|| Yes, you can! Never ever skip moisturizer. It's probably one of the worst things you can do. If you are to splurge on anything, splurge on this. Clinique has a GREAT collection for different skin types. I recommend,
Superdefense SPF 25 Age Defense Moisturizer - Combination Oily to Oily.

Does paying more money guarantee its a better product ?
|| Definitely not. Some brands are worth the splurge. Skincare and some makeup necessities such as foundation, powder, eyeliner, makeup brushes, and blush are things I'll drop big bucks for. But if it's outrageous then I don't recommend it.

My Tip for this entry is to always wear something on your lips! Lip balm, chapstick, anything! Especially in the winter time. Chapped lips is the absolute worst. If you feel like dropping $10 for lip balm, I love Korres Pomegranate Lip Butter from Sephora. It literally feels AMAZING and tastes great. The color is also very wearable for any occassion.

I'm going to close this entry with a few things: I really, really want Shaun White Snowboarding For PC, an iPhone, despite my hate of Apple products, opaque tights, and I think you should check out Mitchell Davis's videos on YouTube.

Here are some pictures of me in the Mitchell Davis t shirt I got. Keep in mind I have no makeup on at all...sort of just woke up and didn't plan on leaving the house. My sister found some of these nylon type liquid leather leggings at Target, so I put those on and pulled shorts from Forever 21 on underneath. I'm still not quite sure what else I can do with it...but I definitely want to shoot in it the next time Angel and I get together. Oh speaking of Angel, my next shoot is going to be with Angie and it's Cowgirl Themed. Nice, no?
