I feel the adrenaline moving through my veins

One of the things I'm always excited about when the new year arrives is the mecca of winter sports on TV. Two events I always watch are the U.S. Figure Skating National Championships and of course the ESPN Winter X Games. I've watched skating on TV all my life, sometimes it can be a tad banal to sit down and watch something I'm doing every day, but I always force myself to watch Nationals. We're still in the dark as to whether Sasha Cohen will come back and compete. She wrote in her journal entry this past summer and said at a late fall press conference that she would resume training, but whether she will actually put out a short and long program at the event is highly unknown. The only thing I do know, is the US Ladies' Team really needs her. We failed to qualify for the Grand Prix circuit, which I found was disappointing. Take Sasha out however, you still have the wonderful Mirai Nagasu and Caroline Zhang. Over in the Mens' division, I'm hoping Johnny Weir will snatch himself another gold medal and with it a national title. I truly thought Johnny deserved the title last year, but it was given to Evan Lysacek. I love both, but the fluid and artistic Johnny is my favorite.

Kevin Pearce is a huge favorite of mine in Snowboarding over at Winter X. I'm anxious to see how Shaun White, my hero, idol, and crush will do at this event. He's been doing extremely well so far, I hope he's about to put out while under pressure. I should be patriotic and root for Gretchen Bleiler instead of the Aussie, Torah Bright, but I'm not. I want Torah to win this year and she's my clear favorite. Speaking of Snowboarding, I finally got Shaun White Snowboarding. I am absolutely addicted!!! I love that game so much. I've been playing hours a day...I really need to cut back.

I had a lot of fun this past weekend. On Friday, I spent the whole day with the girls, then a late night movie back at my house accompanied with attempted star-gazing through a thick cloudy sky, and a 3 AM game of 13 with my brother and his friends. Saturday, I canceled all of my plans and took a mental health day.

The weather was absolutely marvelous so I went outside to read and catch some sun. The current book my nose is buried in is, A Clockwork Orange by Anthony Burgess. I'm absolutely loving it so far! I just started Part 3 of the book and I am more than intrigued. I think after this I'll read some Kafka and then maybe that Guns N' Roses saga/memoir. I still haven't gotten it yet, but I might hold off. I'd be a very nice gift for me however...

For those who love to read I'm going to suggest a few books you should read: Brave New World by Aldous Huxley, Interview With The Vampire by Anne Rice, The Witch of Portobello by Paulo Coelho, Just Listen by Sarah Dessen, and Someday This Pain Will Be Useful To You by Peter Cameron.

In honor of Shaun White, Winter X Games, and the (RED) Campaign, I bring to you my Saturday lounge outfit. Consisting of my favorite pajama shorts and Shaun's HAMME(RED) shirt from GAP. Oh and of course, my brand new baby guitar.

Today is also my best friend, Brooke's birthday! She's having a party in a week or so to celebrate. I got her gift with Angela last week. I really hope she likes it.
Happy Birthday Brooke!

Spring is coming up soon, I'm in the market for a new handbag. I've got some ideas... which one do you like better?
