I found the letter you wrote me, it still smells just like you.

Nothing really happened this weekend. My brother came home for a few days, which was nice! Caught some mix of an incredibly nasty cold and the light flu. It really sucks going around being sick. Used my sickness as an excuse to be a couch potato and watch the US Championships and Winter X Games on TV.

Shaun completely threw down in the Slopestyle competition, regardless of qualifying last. He may not have had the last say in anything, but he most definitely had a say. Being the only snowboarder to cross the channel during his spins made him stand out and unbeatable. His winning run clocked a crazy score of 96, his highest ever in Slopestyle.
After making history by accumulating the most Gold medals ever won at Winter X, in addition to the most medals ever at Winter X, Shaun qualified for the Superpipe competition in first place. Snow conditions definitely made it extremely difficult for the riders, but they all stuck it out and did amazing.
Kevin Pearce had an amazing run, but was beat by Shaun's third and final run, so Kevin settled for 2nd place. Some would say Kevin was robbed, but Kevin denies that saying that in snowboarding, "You've got to take down the champ." Gold is certainly attainable for Kevin. Maybe in 2010....
Lindsay Jacobellis snatched herself a gold in Snowboard X, which was very emotional and Nate Hollander was able to win himself one as well. All in all, the atmosphere and competition over at Buttermilk Mountain in Aspen, Colorado was worth watching.

Hop a plane from Aspen to Cleveland and you're in for exquisite flow and elegance. Watching Alissa capture the Gold was very precious, wondrous, emotional. To see the joy on someone's face after their hardwork has paid off, it's priceless. Her program to Dr. Zhivago was absolutely stunning. I would have thought her dress might have looked a tad different. I haven't watched any skating all season, so when I saw her dress I thought she was going to skate to something fairy or nymph-like. Dr. Zhivago is always good though. Falling on her second triple lutz, and doubling her triple toe at the end of the program were two things that could have lost her the gold, but her marvelous spins, magnificent spirals, and captivating grace secured that peice of hardware.
Rachel Flatt, from Colorado came in an impressive second. At first, after Alissa had fallen, I thought maybe Rachel had won the gold, but after watching Alissa's spiral sequence, I had an idea the gold could still be her's. Give Rachel a year... she would be giving anyone a run for their money.

Headed to Northpark to pick up a few things for the week. My sister went shoe shopping and I found the cutest Charles David wedges. I want these soo bad. They're actually sort of a deep gorgeous purple in person with a lacquered shine. They are gorgeous.

Just took a little peek at my schedule for the end of January and all of February. I'm packed. Valentine's Day, lots of events, and a trip to Colorado will keep me occupied!
